Title : Secure Transmission with Antenna Selection in MIMO wiretap channels
Abstract:
Security and privacy have become increasingly significant concerns in wireless communication networks since the open nature of the wireless medium makes the wireless transmission vulnerable to eavesdropping and inimical attacks. Conventionally, cryptographic protocols are widely designed and adopted above the physical (PHY) layer assuming that an error-free physical layer link has already been established. However, the development of decentralized and ad-hoc wireless networks pose great challenges to implement higher-layer key distribution and management in practice. Against this background, PHY layer security has emerged as an attractive approach to perform secure transmission in a low complexity manner. We study secure transmission with antenna selection (AS) in the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wiretap channels. In contrast to the existing endeavours, we take into account two distinct scenarios: 1) the legitimate receiver is located close to the transmitter, and 2) the legitimate receiver and the eavesdropper are located close to the transmitter. The key performance indicators such as capacity slope, power offset, secrecy diversity order, and secrecy array gain are obtained for these two cases. Some fundamental insights are gathered, which has not been seen in the prior literature.
