Title : How I will Affect You
Abstract:
Network topology provides the basis for measuring the performance of the network and providing better Quality of Service to the customers. Due to the complexity of modern networks and restrictive access to information describing the configuration of networks, it is a very difficult task to maintain and control QoS. Network tomography is one of the solutions to infer the topology which is successful in many cases. But it has limitations due to accuracy issues. We propose a method based on traffic correlations to measure the inter dependencies among different network elements using cross correlation matrix and inverse participation ratio. The inter dependencies would show the affect of one link on another, where the two links are not physically connected to each other. We show that our method works, however special care has to be taken when measuring traffic counts considering the average end to end delays of the traffic traces.
