Title: Book Finder System for Queen Mary Library

Abstract:
Current research experiments on Wi-Fi positioning can only reach 2.0 to 2.5 me
ters’ accuracy, which is impractical for applications like finding books in a library or a spot in an underground parking lot. However, Bluetooth technology offers an indoor positioning with a higher precision, which has become a popular research topic originating from the energy saving Bluetooth version Bluetooth Low Energy(BLE) protocol appearance. A LBS system that can help student find books easily is developed by combining BLE beacons’ Radio Signal Strength Indication(RSSI) based Radio fingerprinting with optimized Kendall Tau Correlation Coefficient. The results achieved in 1 meter when validated in Queen Mary Main Library.
