Title: Energy Efficient Cooperative Scheme for Clustered-based IoT Systems

Abstract:

The Internet of Things (IoT) technology with huge number power-constrained devices has been heralded to improve the operational efficiency of many industrial applications. Cooperative multiple-input-single-output (CMISO) scheme in IoT systems has been proposed to prolong the lifetime of cluster heads (CHs). However, the CMISO schemes introduce additional energy overhead to cooperative nodes (Coops) and reduce the overall network lifetime. In our research, we first formulate the problem of cooperative coalition selection for CMISO scheme to maximize network lifetime, and then propose to apply the Quantum-inspired Particle Swarm Optimization (QPSO) to select cooperative coalition with the objectives of improving network lifetime as well as overall network energy consumption. Simulation results show that the proposed coalition selection outperforms the existing merge-and-split algorithm based on Pareto order (MSoP) in terms of network lifetime by approximately 10%, and outperforms the joint CH and Coops selection algorithm (JCCS) in terms of overall system energy consumption by approximately 15%. And also, the proposed QPSO based coalition selection scheme achieves the optimal coalition with low complexity as compared to the MSoP and JCCS.
