Title: Millimeter wave communications

Abstract:

The fifth generation (5G) network will serve as a key enabler in meeting the continuously increasing demand for future wireless applications, including ultra-high data rate, ultra-wide radio coverage, ultra-large number of devices, and ultra-low latency. More frequency spectrum is needed to support the thousand-fold capacity increase in 5G. Since the available spectrum at microwave frequencies is scarce, millimeter wave transmission that operate in the 30-300 GHz spectrum can provide large bandwidths and has emerged as one of the key technologies in 5G. The milimeter wave channel characteristics are investigated. It is revealed that some recent technologies can be well integrated in millimeter wave networks.
